Artistic Partner James Ehnes returns for his second Masterworks performance of the season, joining the orchestra under the baton of venerated guest conductor Robert Spano to present a true feast for classical music lovers. The program commences with Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, an intimate and ethereal work with a dreamy, sensual soundscape, followed by Saint-Saëns’ spellbinding Violin Concerto No. 3, featuring James as soloist. The program culminates with Tchaikovsky’s monumental “Pathétique” Symphony, abounding in sweeping emotional depth and profound beauty, offering a window into the composer’s innermost feelings of despair and longing shortly before the end of his life.

Prelude at 7pm
Join the conductor before the performance for an insightful 30-minute prelude discussion about the program.
