Preliminary and Final Rounds:
June 1, 2024

Candidates should submit a cover letter, current resume, two letters of recommendation and contact information for three professional references.

Candidates are also required to submit short video samples demonstrating their recent work. This should include at least two contrasting repertoire styles. Video should be shot at close range of the conductor, taken from the orchestra’s vantage point, facing the front of the conductor, of either a rehearsal or performance with full symphonic or large chamber orchestral ensemble. Links to the video samples (Dropbox, YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) and dates of performances should be submitted via the application available through the link above.

Application materials must be received by April 1, 2024. A select number of applicants will be invited to travel to Naples for a live audition on June 1, 2024 that will include conducting the Naples Philharmonic and Naples Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. Repertoire for the live audition will be provided to invited candidates at the time of the invitation. Artis—Naples will provide roundtrip domestic economy fare flights or up to $750 towards international flights, hotel in Naples and ground transportation in Naples for any invited candidates.

The winning candidate will be offered the position for one year with the possibility of renewal.

Position:
Associate Conductor


The Naples Philharmonic Associate Conductor supports the artistic vision of Sharon and Timothy Ubben Artistic and Music Director Alexander Shelley through work with the Naples Philharmonic and the Naples Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.

Conducting Duties

  • Along with Naples Philharmonic Assistant Conductor, cover all Masterworks subscription concerts;
  • Conduct select Naples Philharmonic family and youth education concerts, including Trip to the Phil and Carnegie Hall LinkUp during the 2024-25 season;
  • Conduct select Naples Philharmonic run-out, pops, dance, special, and community concerts as assigned, including Dance Theater of Harlem, Around Town and Holiday Pops in the 2024-25 season;
  • Serve as director and conductor of the Naples Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.

Artistic and Administrative Duties

  • As appropriate, work with the Artis—Naples administrative staff to develop run-out, special, pops, community and chamber music programs;
  • As appropriate, work with the Artis—Naples administrative staff to develop programs for the Naples Philharmonic Youth Orchestra;
  • Provide artistic support as needed to Artis—Naples performing arts activities, including Naples Philharmonic chamber music programs;
  • Maintain a residence in Southwest Florida.

Public Relations Duties

  • Represent Artis—Naples, the Naples Philharmonic and the Naples Philharmonic Youth Orchestra as requested to donors and potential donors in private and public settings throughout the calendar year;
  • Speak to audiences before, during and after selected concerts as requested;
  • Provide administrative support to staff by participating in scheduling and programming discussions for the Naples Philharmonic, Naples Philharmonic Youth Orchestra and Naples Philharmonic Youth Symphonia.
